In the second Architypes event of the year, David Winterton (ERA Architects) speaks to the evolution of Club culture in Toronto, its connections to British and American private Clubs, and Darling & Pearson’s important forays into Club architecture.

David Winterton, OAA MRAIC, is a registered architect, architectural historian, and a Sr. Associate at ERA Architects’ Toronto office.

His independent research focuses on Canada’s sophisticated early 20th-century architectural culture represented by the period’s preeminent Toronto-based architectural firm, Darling & Pearson. Recently, David and ERA Architects announced the Frank Darling Book Project (FDBP), which will culminate in a monograph on the architect and his firm’s prodigious output, anticipated from McGill Queen’s University Press in 2025.
