Toronto's best kept secret
We invite you into the wine cellar of the University Club of Toronto.
The Club's wine pricing policy reflects a desire to provide a significant and special benefit to our members in order to encourage their support of our regular dining facilities. The Club has a policy that ensures that wine served for member's regular Club dining will never be subject to a mark-up of more than $28 per bottle, regardless of the retail price of the wine.
The mark-up applied to wine on a restaurant wine list is routinely 300% of retail and can climb to even greater heights depending on the establishment concerned. Indeed, it can be maddening to arrive at a restaurant for dinner, only to find that wine prices have been carefully manipulated to extract the largest number of dollars from your wallet.
A truly dramatic illustration of such a case is provided by 1995 Chateau Cos d'Estournel, which is sold at the Club for $181 per bottle. Clearly, this is a wine to save for a special occasion. However, the Club price pales in comparison to that of a Toronto steakhouse that is selling the same wine for over $700 per bottle!
Our pricing advantage is enhanced by Spiegelau wine glasses that are now available to members who care to enjoy their wine from fine crystal stemware designed for specific types of wine. Wine service is also being refined by the introduction of training seminars for our serving staff. Overall, given the lengths to which the Club has gone to provide value and an excellent culinary experience, it is difficult to imagine dining anywhere else.

Note that guests from affiliate clubs, and function holders, will be offered the Guest & Function Wine List which still compares well against hotels and restaurants.
